Everything You Need to Know About Our Pugs and Breeding Program
Welcome to the VVSPugGrumble FAQ page. We understand that choosing a pug puppy is an exciting and important decision. Below you’ll find answers to some of the questions we receive most often about our breeding program, available puppies, reservations, health, and ongoing support.

● This is a very common question we hear. There is no right way to answer that. Much like we are all different as people puppies come in all different colors and sizes. No two puppies in one litter will grow to be the same. Our largest Pug is almost 30 pounds where our smallest is under 15. But on average Pugs range between 15 and 20 pounds.
Again this also varies. We have had puppies of the same color grow up and one will have Lightened in the fawn color and the other hasn’t. Puppies do however lighten in color from day of birth until 6 weeks old and can continue to lighten as they grow to full adulthood.
Any breed with a squished nose/shortened snout ie Pugs, Bulldogs, Boxers are prone to stenotic nares, elongated soft palate, hypoplastic trachea, everted laryngeal saccules. Some vets may recommend surgeries so please do your homework on whether the surgery is nice to have or required. None of our adults have had any of these surgeries. We do not recommend it unless it is absolutely necessary.

All of our puppies go to their forever homes with all their first shots and a bag we send with them. To break this down further:

Full vet physical
Required first shots
Fecal test and worming
● We send them home with:
● Copies of their record from our vet with our vets contact information available. Puppies birth certificate. This will list parents and time/weight at birth. Bag of current food our puppies are eating so buyers can easily transition to a new food type.
Blanket we rub on mom and sometimes different toys.
We set up pick ups with our buyers after puppies are 6 weeks old and have been cleared by our vet. We will send out messages the day we plan to take puppies to the vet and send messages after the appointment that they are clear to go home.
For buyers that are more local to us (under a hour away) we do allow pick up same day. For buyers that are farther away we hold puppies for 24 hours after shots to be sure there are no adverse reactions. We can’t pick up farther away puppies to get them to a vet if they have a bad reaction to shots so we hold them to monitor.
Yes. We back our puppies health 100%. We will cOver any medical costs that arise due to negligence in our care up to their next required vet visit.

Yes. When puppies begin to ween they have more interactions with our other pugs and Our children.
Eyes should be clear and white, If not go to the vet (check daily)
Ears should be clean and free of discharge and odor (check weekly)
Mouth -healthy gums with no swelling or redness. Teeth free of tartar build up. No bad breath.
Legs – check for swollen joints and nails that need to be trimmed. Anus – free of swelling
Yes, pugs do shed. They have a short coat, but they shed all year, and some pugs even have a double coat so it can feel like a lot. Regular brushing and baths help keep the loose hair under control and make shedding more manageable in your home.
